andy combs: "vocals, guitars, piano, banjo, keyboards, bass, harmonica, pots & pans, art, percussion, bass synth, engineering and production", so steht es auf der homepage von andy combs and the moth. da weiß man ganz genau, wohin man sich "and the moth" stecken kann. wer nun allerdings mit billigem homerecording rechnet, irrt. denn andy legt wert auf eine vernünftige produktion, die seiner multiinstrumentalität und all den beigefügten gimmicks rechnung trägt. seine musik soll verhuscht sein, spukig zuweilen, eine art folk allemal. und dann doch lofi, denn bei aller detailverliebtheit, rührt das simple hier an.zwei veröffentlichungen gibt es, die man sich in gänze von seiner homepage herunterladen kann. da wäre zunächst die auf "The Spaceship & The Bathyscape 1" hörende ep aus dem jahr 2005. die genauso wie "the robot in the clouds" (2006) auf tingle finger records erschien.
wer den hort von gnadenloser und jederzeit wunderbarer selbstverliebtheit sehen will, muss sich dorthin begeben, wo sie wie hier in musikalische statements kanalisiert wird. ein vergnügen, ein diesseitiges, unmittelbares. gerade auch, wenn andy aus portland die rockigen töne anschlägt oder den blues findet. myspace
